Chinese company tells Spain to replace substandard virus test box

China's Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Co. said Friday (March 27) that it will replace some coronavirus test boxes exported to Spain.

Earlier, the Spanish government believed that the test box test results were too inaccurate to diagnose patients.

A report issued by Reuters on Friday stated that the Spanish Ministry of Health had previously issued a statement saying that the test box provided by Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology was defective and could not properly test and diagnose patients in the hospital.

Shenzhen Yirui issued a statement saying that the inaccurate test results may be due to improper collection of samples or improper use of the test box, and said that Yirui did not communicate enough with users on the use methods.

The Spanish Ministry of Health previously stated that it would retract those test boxes with incorrect test results and use different test boxes provided by Shenzhen Yirui.

As of this Thursday, the new coronavirus epidemic has infected at least 50,000 people in Spain, killing more than 4,000 people, more than China's official number of deaths in China.
