Veteran Afro jazz star Manu Dibango died on Tuesday 25th march 2020 after contacting with the new coronavirus,as his music publisher told


The 86-year-old Cameroonian, best known for the 1972 hit 'Soul Makossa', is one among the primary worldwide stars to die as a results of Covid-19.
He died early morning in a hospital within the Paris region, his music publisher Thierry Durepaire told

A message on his official Facebook page confirmed that he died after contacting with new COVID-19
and His funeral service are going to be kept in strict privacy, and a tribute to his memory are going to be organized whenever possible.

The saxophonist was one among the pioneers of Afro jazz and also fused funk with traditional Cameroonian music.

His biggest hit was the B-side of a song to support the Cameroon eleven within the African Cup of countries but was picked up and popularized by ny DJs.

In 2009, he accused Jackson of borrowing one among his hooks for 2 songs on the legendary 'Thriller' album.

Jackson settled out of court.
